CASTRATION - a horse operation

Castration is process  by which a biological male loses uses of testicles. This causes sterilization (it prevents them to reproduce). It refers to the removal of testicles from animal.this operation is done because it makes horses more quieter, gentler potentially more suitable as an everyday working animal.

Horses are one of the most used animal in Himalayas of Nepal. Likewise it is also important animal in Manang. In Manang horses are used as means of  transportation to travel from place to place. People use it for loading the goods to different places as well. Horses get exited as they see female horses and go crazy . It may harm the horse man. this operation makes them well behaved .

This process takes about forty five minutes done by special trained animal doctor using different equipments. Villagers help the doctor to do the operation which makes it easier and comfortable. Doctor injects the horse to make them unconscious and they cut the skin to take out the testicles. Secondly, they cut the testicles with scissors then tie them with threads. While the operation is done doctor checks the wound and make sure its not bleeding and then they keep some powders in the wound . Finally the villagers will leave the rope and let it  stand. Horses are kept for 4-5 days in the home checking their wounds and let them free when they recover.
